Built for crypto. Grounded in tax. Who we are.
swtax is a boutique tax firm built for crypto founders, developers, and people working on things that do not fit into standard tax categories. Afra fell down the crypto rabbit hole in 2017. Alper followed during the NFT wave. We met at university, joked about building a different kind of tax firm one day, went through Big Four training, and eventually built exactly that: a small, highly specialized practice for complex crypto tax work.
Today, swtax is small on purpose. We are not trying to be a full-service firm for everyone. We work where tax law meets wallets, protocols, token incentives, vesting schedules, DeFi activity, source of funds questions, and the realities of building in crypto. We like the hard cases. The ones where the facts are messy, the documentation is incomplete, the tax treatment is not obvious, and a standard answer would not be good enough.
For us, crypto tax is not just compliance work. It is part of a bigger story: how a new financial and technological system gets translated into existing tax rules – and how founders, developers, and early participants can move through that process without losing their mind. We bring structure, judgment, and a high standard of work to cases that often start with uncertainty. So the tax side becomes clearer, calmer, and easier to move on from.
